ecodemolition™ recommend planning your demolition 6 months ahead and booking the work to be carried out 2 months prior to the date you wish the work to start. A demolition permit referred to as a BUILDING PERMIT must be obtained from your local council prior to any demolition work commencing. ecodemolition™ will arrange this with your local council on your behalf following submission from you of relevant paperwork required.
Note: Please be aware that obtaining a BUILDING PERMIT for your demolition can take up to 21 days. - Authority to Demolish be posted, emailed or faxed for signing.
- Copy of the Title for the property
- Site Plan of the existing building (e.g site plan from real estate sale brochure is sufficient)
Our building surveyor will facilitate the process of obtaining your permit to demolish which is referred to as a Building Permit.
Prior to the demolition permit issuing, as the owner, you are required to arrange for the abolishment of services to the property prior to demolition works commencing.
ecodemolition™ will forward a fact sheet outlining what you need to request from your service provider to have your gas & electricity services abolished.
ELECTRICITY – request through your electricity provider the abolishment of the electricity meter at the property.
Note: It is important that the service is abolished not just disconnected.
GAS - request through your gas provider the abolishment of the gas meter at the property.
Note: It is important that the service is abolished not just disconnected.
Demolition works will not commence until both services have been abolished.
These permits may need to be obtained from local Council, depending on the size of the tree, and if it is located in a vegetation protection overlay.
You should contact the council in relation to asset protection permits, and, if required, please obtain and forward to our office. This permit will cover not only demolition works but also the building of your new property. Should you require an asset protection permit, demolition cannot commence until the permit has been issued.
To comply with council law and to ensure public safety, it is the client’s responsibility to supply and erect temporary fencing to secure not only your site but the neighbouring site. By council law this fence is required to be erected prior to works and remain in place until building works have been completed. We recommend a company called Temporary Fence Hire.
If your demolition requires asbestos removal, an audit will be undertaken and asbestos removed from your property. Following the removal, an audit and clearance to proceed with demolition will be issued.
Our demolition team will begin the process of systematically removing all salvageable material from the property using smaller equipment such as skid steers.
Large excavators are delivered to site to raze the remaining structure.
